National Symbols of Pakistan

Pakistan has many official National Symbols like a flag, an emblem, an anthem, a memorial tower also many national heroes. Here is the list of National Symbols of Pakistan.

National Flag of Pakistan


Pakistan’s National Flag is green field with a white crescent moon & five rayed star at center, its having have vertical white strip at hoist side.

It was designed by Amiruddin Kidwai at base on All India Muslim League Flag; it was presented on 11th August 1947 during meeting of Constituent Assembly.


State Emblem of Pakistan

It was adopted in 1954 and signifies ideological foundation of Pakistan, the basis of its economy, its cultural heritage and its guiding principles.

The emblem has four components: A crescent & star crest in green color above a shield are symbol of Islam.

A shield in the center shows major crops of Pakistan which are cotton, wheat, tea and jute.

The floral wreath surrounding the shield shows the National flower of Pakistan Jasmine.

Its also representing the floral designs used in traditional Mughal art and highlight the cultural inheritance of Pakistan.

Scroll supporting the shield highlights the motto of Quaid e Azam. In Urdu (ایمان، اتحاد، نظم) in Roman “Iman, Ittihad, Naẓm” in English “Faith, Unity, Discipline”.


National Anthem of Pakistan


Pakistan’s National anthem also known as “Pak Sarzamin”

Music of National Anthem was composed in 1949 by Ahmad G. Chagla.

Lyrics were written in 1952 by Hafeez Jullundhri.

In 1954 It was officially adopted as National Anthem of Pakistan.


National Language of Pakistan


National Language of Pakistan is “URDU” its mixture of Persian, Arabic & different local languages.

“URDU” is similar to Hindi in speaking but written in Arabic Script.


Father of the Pakistani Nation


Quaid-e-Azam, Mohammad Ali Jinnah was born on 25th December 1876 at Karachi. His Father name is Jinnah poonja.

Quaid e Azam passed matriculation at age of 16 from Karachi then he went to England for higher education and passed law from there, he started his practice in Karachi.

He is the founder of Pakistan. Quaid also became 1st governor general of Pakistan.

He died on 11th September 1948.


Mother of the Pakistani Nation

Fatima Jinnah

Fatima Jinnah was born at Karachi on 30th July 1893 Fatima Jinnah was the younger sister of Quaid e Azam.

She was an active politician in the independence movement from the British Raj.

After the formation of Pakistan & the death of her brother Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

She remained an active member of the nation’s politics & keep working work for the welfare of Pakistani people until she died on July 8, 1967 in Karachi.

National Symbols of Pakistan

Allama Iqbal was born at Sialkot on 9th Nov 1877‎.

His Father name is Noor Muhammad and Mother Name is Imam Bibi.

He Passed his matric in 1983, Intermediate in 1985, passed B.A IN 1897 from Govt. College Lahore.

Ten he did M.A Philosophy from Germany in 1899 then he took barrister degree from London in 1908, then he came back and started barrister practice.

He was also a great poet, he wrote inspirational poetry in Persian & Urdu, Allamaiqbal Presented Separate home land idea for Indian Muslims.

Mr. Allama Iqbal died on 21st April 1938 and his tomb is in Badshahi Masjid Lahore.


National Masjid of Pakistan


Faisal Masjid is the largest masjid of Pakistan.

Designed by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay, This Masjid was completed in 1986. It’s an iconic symbol of Islamabad throughout.


National Monuments of Pakistan


Monument representing 4 provinces and 3 territories.

Arif Masood’s plan was selected for the final design.

After a competition b/w many well-known architects.

4 main petals of the monument represent the 4 provinces Balochistan, KPK, Punjab, & Sindh, and 3 smaller petals represent the 3 territories Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

It’s designed to reflect the civilization & culture of the country.

Monument portray the story of the Pakistan Movement, Its dedicated to those who sacrificed themselves for future generations.


National Library of Pakistan


It was inaugurated in 1993 & located at Constitution Avenue, Islamabad.

The building has space huge space for 500 readers, 15 research rooms, 450-seat auditorium & computer / microfilm services.


National Mausoleum of Pakistan


National Mausoleum refers to the tomb of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan.

It’s also known as Mazar-e-Quaid. It was completed in the 1960s. It is an iconic symbol of Karachi.


National Dress of Pakistan


National dress of Pakistan is Shalwar Kameez.

Worn by men & women belongs to all province of Pakistan.


National Sports of Pakistan


National sport of Pakistan is Hockey.

Pakistan has been one of the most successful teams in international hockey competitions.

Team Having world record of wining four Hockey World Cup titles. With 338 goals.


National Animal of Pakistan


Pakistan’s National Animal Markhor.

Markhor is a large species wild goat that’s found in Gilgit-Baltistan, northern KPK, Azad Kashmir.


National Bird of Pakistan


Chakor is National Bird of Pakistan.


National Flower of Pakistan


Pakistan’s National flower is Jasmine.

Pakistan’s National Tree is Deodar.


National Drink of Pakistan


National drink of Pakistan is Sugar cane. It’s known as roh or more commonly “gunney ka rus” means Juice of Suger cane.


National Fruit of Pakistan


National Fruit of Pakistan is Mango.


Tower of Pakistan


Minar-e-Pakistan located in Iqbal Park, Lahore. Known as “Tower of Pakistan”.

Minar-e-Pakistan was constructed in 1960 on the site where All-India Muslim League passed the Lahore Resolution in 23 March 1940.
